Wildlife Tracking Intensive
This is a long-term class with repeated meetings over 6 months.
There will be optional homework and individual assignments. We are looking for 4 to 7 individuals who are passionate about tracking and want to deepen their ability to read the land. Specific attention will be given to each person and they will be provided with unique feedback, assignments and individual training. This class consists of weekly group outings, monthly weekend field trips, and one-on-one tracking days with each individual student. Students goals and interests are the priority here, and there will be regular personal communication between individual students and instructors. In the monthly weekend trips we will travel to different parts of Humboldt County and Northern California and spend time trailing different species such as Bears, Cougars, Deer, Elk and more. Meeting times of this class are dependent upon the schedules of the students. There are optional homework assignments which include journaling tracks and sign in the field, journaling animal behavior from field guides, and compiling research notes, and the completion of these homework assignments is rewarded with refunds or discounts for other classes (whichever the student prefers). A maximum of 7 students will be accepted for this class so please email us with your goals, passions and plans for wildlife tracking. No experience is required, only passion.
The total fee for this class is $800, and students can receive up to $100 back with completion of homework assignments. Payments can be made all at once, or in smaller amounts throughout the class.

Primitive Fire-Making
$20 for each 4-hour session
This class is about making fire in the fashion that native people around the world have done for thousands of years, without lighters or matches. We focus on the techniques of the Hand-drill and the Bow-drill, which are the two most effective methods for our climate. This is an essential survival skill and is important to know for anyone who spends time in remote wilderness areas.
